I have been Polishing my first bach for 7 days. Thay look good but not great. Should I keep them in the polish for another week. Should the rocks be great by now or dose it take longer then a week.
Thanks

7 days should be enough. If you're unsatisfied with the results, it's most likely do to previous grits. Maybe they didn't stay on the 80 grit long enough for desired shapes. Or perhaps not enough time in prepolish. If you used the same barrels for multiple grits, there may have been some cross contamination there as well. Or, the sones just might not be good for high polishing either The only time I polish for more than 7 days is with obsidian.

Is it possible that after 7 days in Alum Oxide the stones can still have a dull look where as using cerium they will shine? I'm new to this but I just ran the stones that came with the tumbler for 7 days too, and they are not in the least shiney; and I am concluding that the polish that came in the kit is junk, and I'm going to pretend that it was a pre-polish and run them in Cerium Oxide for a week.

One of the things I do is to run the batches longer. I seem to get better results. I run the 80 untill it is sludge, the 220 for five days longer, the 440 longer still. I use 900 for final and cerium for polish. I had some really miserable results before and I just let them run out now. It works for me.
