Taxes, taxes... I got sick of working on taxes, and my dog was chewing my leg off, so I decided to bundle up and take Angie for a sanity hike in my favorite local rockhounding spot. I was only going to take my camera, but at the last minute, I thought, what the heck and grabbed my pocket vest. Good thing! [If anybody can help me with IDing (or correcting my ID), it would be much appreciated!] Angie A big chunk of Albite with closeup A couple of chunks of Serpentine Red/multicolored Jasper types, some with druziness This one called me from the water Something interesting Hmmm, If I had to guess... garnet? Conglomeration I've been itching to get this one out of the rootball of this fallen tree. It's red, round, druzy looking and really interesting. But it was too cold, too frozen (I'm no NSR, and I only had a dog and a camera with me), so I started heading home, but then... I spotted one of those round red druzy looking things on the ground split open by somebody. Looked like this, then I turned it over... And a smaller piece that was beside it. Here's some scenery Thanks for coming with us! Jo and Angie

OH JO: Do you have a fever? Did you see the temp today? You are diehard! What neat stuff you have found though, did you put your hands in that stream water? I hope you are warming up tonight. Angie needs a fancy little coat for this cold weather and maybe pink ear warmers, hahaha. The red jasper stuff looks cool, I am amazed that on a daily basis you find new and interesting things. Amber

Do you see the icicles on her neck in that last pic? I tried to get her to take a pic of me, but she couldn't figure out how to work the focus. (boo!) LOL. Yes, yes all warm and cozy now.

What a lovely walk you took us on and I didn't feel the cold at all. lol. You found some really cool rocks. I hope you have a loupe because that last rock looks like it is loaded with crystals. and with all the yellow and red rocks that I see in the stream, I'd dredge it clean.

Thanx Rox, Yeah, I cut them too, but too cold to saw right now with temps in the 20's and 30's. Cul -Ann, We got some flurries right now but nothing on the ground. We are about an hour south of Amber, who has an inch or so of snow right now. Now that we got the dog ID'd, wish someone like Mel would give us a clue on that crazy one...

Sounds and looks like a fun hike. Nothing like going with a good friend.

Angie, you're making me homesick! I grew up in Bryn Mawr, and your scenery looks just like home!
You've found some really neat stuff there. I wonder if the creek near where I grew up has anything like that. I have fun memories of that creek.
