I posted this one along with two more in the members photos section. This particular geode will not be cut, much too pretty for that so it's now a display. I got them at the "Animal Jungle" pet store, same place that my red jasper used to come from (two pics of the same rock) Oh, and the druzy center is actually convex, it looks like a sparkley purple billiard ball.....

Me thinks yon petstore caters to pet rocks...........this one seems destined to be a 'pet rock'. I would have to cut this one open to see waht was inside. Woody

Looks like this one has been ID'd as a "dugway" geode. This particular petstore is always coming up with rocks like these in the aquarium section. I can't imagine why though. Oh, BTW, I straightened out a 20 inch slab saw blade two days ago for a buddy that's in the Tidewater Gem and Mineral society. His wife orders the rocks for this particular pet store. ;D In the last three years I have purchased red jasper, purple jasper, wonderstone, crazylace, zebra stone, and these geodes.

Not slabbing this one, though I do have two more that will get slabbed. I have at least one that's solid enough to get some cabs from.

Oh, I would love to see it in person. My shipping address is........ ;D ;D
That's one neat geode - of course, I love anything purple.
Never heard of a pet store that has rocks, but you can bet, I'll be checking out the two local pet stores!

llana, I've been in two petstores close to my house, and both sell rocks. Anywhere that sells fish usually sells stuff this this for aquariums, and also reptile enclosures. My daughter "Harlie" has a royal python with a 12.5 pound chuck of white quartz in his enclosure. The bearded dragon has red jasper, mexican crazy lace, and picture stone in his.

Nice specimen!
I picked up a nice, but fractured, 5 lb. seam agate the other day at our local aquarium store. They also had a lot of cool slag glass.
