Thank you for sharing your great time you had, Brian and Christa! Meeting other RTH-ers is always a blast! It really seems you had a very special week-end. Beautiful scenery and the rocks in this thread are stunning. The rough plume in your other threads is also amazing.

Beef: Great photos, that shirt makes you look great, you need a white one to tye-dye. It is so funny you got that Pilbara Jasper and coral, we got the same stuff from a guy at the Lebanon show in PA here in December, I wonder if it is the same person, that stuff is cool! Tony just slabbed some of it the other day. Nice buys the OJ and crinoid are favs, you had a great weekend!! Can you start taking pics inside? Seeing all that sunshine makes me more depressed, hahahaha AMber

Actually we bought slabs of the pilbari jasper and the coal I didn't slab it. I did cut it up for cabbing the other day though. I'm kinda partial to the Misty Mountain the dino and the crinoid marble. Its great that you got to meet some other members. Amber and I are considering a trip out west this summer to meet some members. We'd love to time our visit so we can meet Adrian.

Wow looks like a lot of fun. That picture of you, pup and Gemn'i brought a smile to my face. Nothin better than hanging out with fellow rockhounds. Great finds too especially the unknowns and rosetta lace. BTW, how is that rosettal lace? I've heard it isn't as hard as regular crazy lace. Steve

It's a good thing I don't live anywhere near places like that. I wouldn't have any money to get home and would have to eat rocks. Curt

Thanks for sharing all the fun you had together. The slabs your bought are beautiful.
You must have had to bring your will power as well as your wallet before going in there cause that Intarsia display alone would cause me to part with all my cash.

Karen, her parents and I were out there last weekend (13 & 14). Whirlwind tour for us (drove down Wed nite & thursday; Fri & sat shop; sat night turn around to get home ~6P Sun).
There seemed to be more vendors this year compared to last year. Hopefully that means the economy is turning around!

The nice thing about doing a show like Quartzite besides all the ooohs and ahhhs is doing it with friends so you can compare the excitement the displays bring! Brian and Christa are super hosts in the adventure Puppie and I had!! I did go back Monday and did some shopping for fire agate rough @ $2/pc...some vendors would deal and some would not...I was just trying to figure out how to get some of that 2200 kilo piece of lapis back in my carry on...didn't happen LOL. This is a show that really is something to behold...if you can't find it here, you're not looking hard enough! Thanks for making it a real pleasure Brian...hope Christa is feeling better!

Thanks for the pics. I had planned on going this week, but life and work got in the way. Not to worry. I will be in Tucson on the 12th and 13th.

This year we found a vendor selling "Desert Lapis" - a common name for Dumortierite. This was interesting to us because we have a hunk-o-rock that stumped everybody I showed it to. But this one vendor had a pile that is exactly like our piece, which looks nothing like other specimens of Dumortierite that I have found. Ours is soooo darkly purple that at first it is black. Until you really really really look closely, in the right light. And then the gold-tone stringers start to show up as well.
Nephrite/Tony even took a piece and made a cab for me. Polished ok, a bit grainy but sooo dark.
