Hi Folks! Yup - I’ve been busy! I have spent the last two or three weeks playing with some new ideas, and these are my first couple of new wraps. I have also been working on the tutorial I promised on cutting circles, which should be ready next week. Anyhow - here are a couple of new ones. I swapped to silver plate for a while, I’m keeping costs down while I play, and will go back to Sterling sometime soon. The first stone is another example of Rhyl Red Jasper from North Wales. I love the clear agatized windows, and the dark pyrite plumes are really pretty, a stone which speaks more in person than off the screen. The second stone is one of a sequence that I’m cutting from a batch of Burro Creek Agate. It’s a gift from Lady B, who in turn received them from the RTH Agate Hunt! So this is truly a Forum wrap, and thanks to all who gave me the opportunity to cut this one, I love it! ;D And aren’t they a pretty pair! Thanks for looking folks! I had a lot of fun cutting this pair of groove wraps, and thanks to everyone for their encouragement over the months, it’s paying dividends now! Adrians highlighting of this technique, and his stunning workmanship help insipre all of us, and more folks have joined the groovy fun, which makes it even more enjoyable, so thanks to all of you. Cheers, Sparkles. p.s. Do you want a full slabs to cabs tutorial on the circles? Or just the techniques I use to get 'em really round? Technique or Slabs to Cabs? Thanks!

Yes, I love too how you put such high domes on them. That seccond one is my favorite, and what a sentimental value it has!

WOW Sparkles, you really make a nice high dome, are these double domed? Did I miss that while wiping the slober from my face? The groove looks especially nice with the high dome. I love the red one, is it cool it is from your hometown?

Harry these deserve sterling, no question about it. Both the wraps and cabs are perfect, what a shine. I'm looking forward to your tutorial on how you make the cabs. Thanks for posting mate.

Oh, Buddy of Mine!!!
You have definitely brought joy to those of us who love your work!! I love the passion inside the Rhyl Red Jasper and I am thrilled to see the progression from rock chunk to cab of beauty on that Burro Creek Agate!! I am so glad I was able to share some of those rough agates with you! You have surely done them justice!!!

Wow!!! Nice work and GREAT cabs. I really like the dome and polish on both of them. For me, the taller the dome, the harder the cab is to cut. Great work

Hi Everyone, and Thanks! I've had a lot of fun with the groover, and these are the first "Full Ovals" that I've cut in this style. I like the high domes too, and yes they are indeed domed top and bottom. I like a higher dome on the top face, and a shallower face on the back. I would be wrapping in Silver but the pocket is shallow for a while so I'll practice my approach for a bit before swapping back. I'm really just having a heap of fun at the moment. Glad you all enjoyed the stones, the Burro Creeks have been making me smile so much, they have a lovely feel and are particularly pretty stones when polished. Thanks so much to Lady Bea for those, and the marvellous RTH pixies who collected them in the first place. ;D Cheers you guys! ;D The Red Jasper came from a collecting trip last summer, my brother lives up in North Wales (other side of the Country), and so I made the most and grabbed some "treasures" while I was there. In Norfolk we have tons and tons of flint, and the goodies are well and truly hidden, up there just about every pebble was worth a good look. I had a field day! ;D This was one of many red jaspers I collected on the day, slabbed and cabbed! ;D I love finding gems! Treasures from the beach rock! ;D Thanks again for your kind comments everyone, it's a real pleasure to share the fun, and brings me much enthusiasm in my hobby. Oh... and the "full monty" will be ready soon! ;D Cheers, Sparkles.
