I have a buddy in Montana(Red Lodge area)that makes arrowhead and spearheads for a living........ He does museum work too........Copies the original pieces for them, than they put the real ones in a safe and display his copy... I payed $20.00 for this piece-well worth the coin! I pick everything up I find! (my Uncle Henry said"You can pick it up and take it home, than throw it away, but you can't go back to find it"!) Here are some pieces of arrowheads and things.... Some arrowheads and scrapers that I found.........(I had more, but traded them off).. A short story with this find: First of all this hammerhead is from the North Dakota area,I found this piece in Central Montana-which means this rock was carried by horse over 500 miles by an Indian,to be left in that spot.Maybe dropped or some battle there?? (Why do I know this:Because this rock isn't even close to being found in Central,MT-its a Dakota rock, which we have fields and fields of them laying around....)Interesting hammer anyhow....

Nice collection, I'm trying to learn to make arrowheads and it aint easy. I have heard that there is someone in Portal ND who makes them too. It would be great to get a demo at one of our club meetings.

I know there are a few knappers around my area. Last year at my clubs rock show there was a man selling finished pieces, and demonstrating how to knap. I do remember him telling me to make sure and wear gloves as he showed me a scare on the ball of his palm that was 3 inches long and needed um teen stitches.

Saskrock,
Check in on U-Tube and look for flint knapping videos ! The videos by Paleoman Jim and Flintknapping Tips by Marty Reuter are among the best available. Also films by a man that goes by the handle of Bohunter. There are others that are very informative but these three guys have the most films out. For tools look for Craig Ratzat's store, you can find it by using (Green Obsidian Mine) as a search.
