This is the only Royal Sahara Jasper nodule that I've ever cut..and I thought it would be Fun to photgraph each slice. I know that they say if you don't like the scene in a cut...cut it again...and the scene will morph! It honestly does just that. I won this off e-bay from the owners...and I plan to buy more. It's hard material...and I'm sooooo looking forward to making some cabochons. Enjoy the pics. They were taken fresh after the cut.....and the cuts are in about 1/4" thicknesses. First slice Second Slice Third Slice Fourth Slice(notice the perfect candle?) The rest of the nodule will be used as part of an Echostone set. Steve

Steve:
Great way to show the variation in the cuts. Love that material. I almost bought some at a rock show, but was too cheap.

That third slice has a perfect tree on it (if you tilt your head almost upside down), and I see a big lit candle in the fourth.

Thanks for the cut by cut account. I love to see what the next slice brings. My favorite thing to do.

Wow! That is a great way to show the progress through the stone. I've got to try to win me some of those to cab. That stuff is very very cool...Mel

Thanks for showing those progressive cuts Steve. It really DOES morph from cut to cut. I'm sure you will get some fantastic cabs out of those slabs!!!! I had to go back and look at the pics again after Naturenut mentioned what she saw and sure enough....there was the tree and the big lit candle. Now I've got to get my head twisted back around to where it was!
