I live in a town Mt. Penn outside of Reading, and the best way to work is over Mt. Penn Mountain. It is a hairy ride but the shortest distance to my office, and although I complain about this weather, it does make me smile everyday when I drive by. Here is a waterfall! This is a wall that people must through food coloring on and stain the ice, it is pretty though, I just hope they are using non toxic paints or dyes, since they stock the lake and creek with trout. A view of the lake, we have to walk around this Spring and see if we find any cool rocks! I need naturenut!!! Ice Fishing-I can't imagine this.... sitting in that cold ice waiting for a fish!!!But on any given day there are usually 10-12 people out there fishing! I think I would scare the fish with all my talking!! :nono: Hope you enjoy a little view of where I live! Amber

Amber, I can't tell you how much fun we'd have here with one good snow. Your morning drive is gorgeous, and the cold air is sure to have you wide awake and ready for the day.
I'm coming over.

Boy you have a beautiful drive going to work. That blue ice is amazing and it may just be natural color in the ice because I have seen that kind of icles countless times driving up to NH in the winter. It was my favorite part of the drive besides seeing the old man. That Ice fishing looks awesome. I only did that once with my Maineac sis and b-i-l. They built a fire right on the ice and we cooked hotdogs Oooo, I love these pics it brought up some long lost memories. Thanks

The ice is colored that way naturally from the minerals in the water and ground. In Lacrosse Wi. we have that also every winter from the minerals.

I think I'm glad I left Pennsylvania behind. I just can't take cold weather anymore.

Well ok, I am a dumb *ss, here I thought kids were painting the ice! Sometimes the colors are so bright and only at the bottom so I figured kids were out with paintballs or something...... see I always learn something on here!

May be, but what a great idea to put food coloring on ice. I'm gonna try it sometime and will post a pic if it works out! Amber, you might really be a genius!

duh.. .how long have you been driving by and seen kids painting the ice? ...NEVER!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D I would have thought it was the power bait the fishermens were using and it washed down stream and stained the sides of the waterfalls. Don't be MAd Amber...I loves ya! I'm glad you have a nice scenic drive into work though. I used to do lots of ice fishing when my Dad was still around. It wasn't bad if it was sunny outside...and the fish were biting. When the fish weren't biting though....even a sunny day felt cold. Steve

Well I highly doubt the color is from Power Bait, this is several hundred feet from the lake and may even be at a higher elevation. I didn't think of minerals coloring the ice. We do get some bluish ice here but nothing as vibrant as this and never seen yellow ice before. Snow yes, ice no. lol Looks like I put my life at risk for these photos for nothing. Amber dumped me out of the car to take the pics and I almost got run over 3 times. lol Well maybe it wasn't that close in reality. ;D
