I will never cease to be amazed at the extraordinary beauty inherent in rocks. Mothe Nature has such a magnificent palette for her paintings!!! You have made quite a haul - even if it is just a fraction of a ton! Lady B

I know why it's called Bloodstone, because I'd bet people would kill for that!

Wow, just wow! Like Mel says, a painters pallet! I do not know who Harry is, but could likely sell a ton to this forum family fast, if packaged in FRB's! From the fractures, it looks very hard, and unpitted. Woody

Fancy bloodstone is just an amazing rock - it almost looks unreal. A bit too garish for my taste (there is something about that combination of green and red) but an amazing rock, and those samples are primo.

ralph and i drove down to tucson to meet harry. I bought a 50 lb rock from him. we talked for hrs about rocks and india. Harry and his dad are very nice people.. We are going back this sunday to meet up with him again. I hope the weather will be better. It was cold and hailing so we huttled in their tent. i can't wait to cut the bloodstone to see how it looks inside. The only problem is, again i bought a rock that ralph has to figure out how to get in the saw lol

OK, I want to soften my critique. I will quote this message, clarify my caution. and then delete the original message.Well, WAIT A MINUTE! I ordered 15lbs and it looked nothing like the pictures above. I would never have ordered the rocks I got. I will post a pic later - but one is almost all dark red with just thin bits of yellow and the other is almost all solid green with a just few red bits - no ORANGE, no BROWN, no sprays of YELLOW DOTS, nothing like the pictures above. I am very upset. I'll post pics later but I don't recommend anyone buy anything from Harry that they do not pick out in person. He does not have the judgement to deal consistently with a community like ours where we all see what each other gets. There is no way he could have thought these rocks were anywhere near comparable to the ones he sent out earlier. This sucks! I think the caution is this: In this day and age of digital photography and online sales, don't buy anything where you have not seen the actual rocks. This includes Harry and other places like TheGemShop ... etc. After getting some questionable butterfly jasper from TheGemShop I had to contact them and complain in order to have them send something that looked a bit more like the picture online. Harry sent colorful pieces to lapidopterix, yet I ordered from his stock w/o asking to see a pic of the box he could sell me. Nowdays it is easy to take and send pics, and we should all look before we buy. Almost every time I have relied on a vendor to pick for me, I have been unhappy to some degree. I think I was as annoyed at myself for breaking my policy about seeing before I buy, as I was annoyed over the actual rocks where I did not get the color I was expecting. Harry saw my post and called me and offered options to make it right. THis is 1st class. I am actually going to tell him he does not need to do anything. I appreciate his offer, but I think I will just put these rocks on my display rack as a reminder not to buy w/o seeing. I hope softening my harsh posting into this more reasoned caution about " look before you buy" and taking some of the heat off of Harry will be acceptable to him. So, LOOK before you buy. Even nice guys cannot send stellar rock to every customer. Someone has to get the blander stuff. Just make sure it is not you! ----------- Here are the pics. One mostly green with some typical red blood dots, and the other mostly red with some yellow and green spots, but mostly red. (click for larger)

Well, at least you got your rock! Most of mine managed to escape the box, and are currently lost in the Post Office maze. I do have a tracer out.......like how many rocks does the PO have in their lost, and found? Woody

Yup! You thinking there is a BAD rockhound in the Tucson PO? I got an email from Harry that he would replace the lost material when he gets back here from India. I know, it would have been better all around to have bought visually in Tucson.............but I would have walking around the show with my tongue hanging out, and bought way too much rock. Woody
