Hello rock enthusiasts! My name is Sheree, I'm from Delton, MI. I found this great site by way of a post in jewelrylessons.com and am delighted to be here! I'm going to learn so much about one of my favorite things, ROCKS! I've always had a fascination with stones and since deciding to start a hobby/biz in jewelry design it's taken over my life, lol! Look forward to chatting with you all!

Sheree,
Welcome aboard. Spent some time / years in Michigan also. My folks had a resort on Fine Lake , not to far from Battle Creek. Went to W.K. Kellogg School. Went on the plant tour twice a month when the folks went to town shopping and could recite the cereal guides tour info by heart. Always left there with a 12 box sample pack. You will like it here if you are into lapidary as there are some of the sharpest people in the rock world hanging out here !
Again, welcome

Welcome Sheree. This is indeed a great place to learn & share about all things rocks! I went to your web site & have to say that I just LOVE that intarsia pendant. It is just beautiful. A couple of folks here have made intarsia things as well, very beautiful. Anyhow, welcome & share pictures of your craft! We love pictures here. Don

Thanks for the warm greetings, everyone! This has been a great website and forum, really enjoying it! I am astounded by how many independent jewelry and stone artists there are sharing and teaching fellow enthusiasts on the web, it is a wonderful, friendly community Steve- Do you attend any rock shows here in MI? Mike-I'm learning new rocks facts all the while, here! Fran- Hope to have wire and tools to expand into wire-wrapping, soon. Till then it's mostly stringing. Harley- My 3 kids(all out of school now!!) all attended Delton-Kellogg with Fine Lake kids. I only toured Kellogg's once with cousins from Royal Oak, the most memorable part was having ice cream with Fruit Loops I'm fascinated by the entire cabbing process, though personally, sharp blades aren't my thing, lol. Don-That was a very nice intarsia, indeed. My friend selected from pics I sent her of ebay auctions, she was looking for a particular color of pendant. I am a bit ashamed to say it most likely came from China, I am more enlightened these days...one more reason to be so happy to have found this link to American stone crafters! Been busy learning something else this week, floor tiling Thanks, again! Sheree

Hi Sheree, We went to a show in Frankenmuth, mostly by chance. We didn't know the show was that weekend and we were going to Frankenmuth anyway. It was fun to walk around and look at all the rocks and what the people can do with them. I did a quick check and there are several clubs in your area; Holland, GR, Kzoo, and Lansing so there should be several shows close to you. Holland www.tulipcity.orgGrand Rapids www.IndianMoundsRockClub.com Kalamazoo www.kalamazoorockclub.com (temporarily under construction ) Lansing (didn't have a link) CENTRAL MICHIGAN LAPIDARY & MINERAL SOCIETY 1407 Costs Grove, Hastings, MI 49058 Meetings: 3rd Thursday, 7:30 pm North School, 333 E. Miller Rd. Here's a link that lists most of the rock and gem clubs in Michigan, and other states too. www.rockhounds.com/rockshop/clubs/michigan.shtmlHope this helps. Steve

Thanks so much, Steve! I see there'll be at least two shows in the area in the spring. I did go to the Indian Mounds Rock Club in GR two years ago and picked up a really nice cab, there were alot of tempting choices! Thanks for taking the time to post all the links, I appreciate it!! Sheree
