Amber's gift of a perfect Kyanite blade was my victim today... or is that a perfect gift of a Kyanite blade... the idea of said gift she sniped from a comment I made about Lori's gorgeous Kyanite wrap won by Shannon in Lori's PIF auction. This is the gift as I received it last Sunday when we got together. The Before: Now the After: And the Back: Check out the awesome color and the cool translucency. Thanks Amber, for your wonderfulness. Thanks Lori for creating the idea. And thanks Shannon for buying Lori's wrap before I could. LOL. I've been jonsing for blue ever since!!!! Thanks for lookin'! Jo

Amber really set you up with Kyanite that is first class material. The color is really rich and beautiful. That wrap is stunning and perfect for the stone. It looks like a climbing vine. I keep going back to stare at it. lol

Dang Jo: You did some mighty fine work there! Kyanite is so hard to cab, those blades are so thin, so it is the perfect material to wrap! I can hardly decide which side I like best?!?!?! The front is so delicate, just like Lori said, a vine, but the back is cool too! Lori-Do you want me to send you one too? Maybe 2? I would like one!!! I'll keep cabbing it if one of you wrap one for me!!! I love having wrapper friends!!! I have 5 blades for Jo, and I might have 2 more! Amber

Wow! What a gorgeous piece of Kyanite! You'd never know it was the same one that you show in the box. The wrap is cool too. Garry

Thanks Lori, Amber and Garry! Worked the climbing vine idea with some round wire in the concept stage and then worked it in with the bindings and the half round wire. It is a beautiful piece of Kyanite (I think its upside down in the pic where its in the box) and would look great no matter how it's wrapped. Appreciate your opinions, thanks! Jo

I'll echo that it looks like vines or leaves - beautiful job!
The material is awesome too - looks like labradorite-sodalite

Amber, heck girl, you don't even need to ask for a wrap, just send it and it'll be done But just send the one you want wrapped for yourself, When I was going through my stuff to look for a stone to wrap for Woodyrock, I found another Kyanite tumble. I thought I had given them all away. I thought great, I'll send it to Jo and then her thread of your gift popped up. Things happen in timely fashion cause the Kyanite tumble I found isn't half the quality and color that yours is. It is pretty but it lacks that deep rich blue streak in Jo's wrap. Sorry Jo, kind of off topic. Heck, I just noticed you did an awesome job of making the vines climb the blue streak without hiding that gorgeous color

Hey, hijack away! Thanks. I wanted to start the vine a little off center at the bottom because that would give it room to meander. Some of the leaves look like they're upside down to me. Hate to put another twist in them though. I may or may not play with them more. Using that 22 ga half-round was the ticket!
Tweet, 49er and Rockme... Thanks so much for those comments. Means more than you'll ever know!

This one is a true winner. It definitely gets extra for originality.

I love it, that's a really sweet idea with the vine growing up the side of the cab
