Don't think about..jump right in there and start working. Nothing like the present time or you will be sorry later on down the road.

That is really beautiful. What different kinds of wood did you use and how long did it take you to make it?? It looks like it was labor intensive.

That pic took me all year long. I got interested in the project from the very beginning of wood shop class. The teacher showed us an example & I chose to do it. I literally was working on it till the last day of the school year. About ½ way thru the year--- I could tell I was in trouble completing it. So I put in a lots extra time. Lunch hours, early mornings ect… I must have at least 60 hours into it. Walnut, zebra, ebony, purple hart, ash Those are some of the woods I recall… there’s a few others. I’d say the pieces are about 1/8 inch thick. The criss- cross ¼ inch square pieces is the ash, that fill in the border around the horse. That turned into a group glue! Lots of Elmer! Its good stuff! Not a single piece as come loose in over 30 years. After the final piece was attached I grouted the whole board. Belt sanded & finished with a clear shellac. I really really appreciate the inquiry Lori- (sitnwrap) Hope I got your name right. Here’s a rock'n heart for you!

I think when a person creates a work of art there is always a story that is entwined in their work.
:)Thank you for offering all the wonderful information.
Thank you for the heart, it is beautiful.

I don't know how I missed this thread before. This is really a beautiful piece of work and time hasn't changed that in the least! I'd say you are due to start another...Talent like that shouldn't be left idle...(and I am a little selfish and want to see what you come up with ;D) Fran

That's a gorgeous wood mosaic you created as a freshman in woodworking class, Ed! Very glad that your mom has it hanging on her wall.
