She did a good thing this morning, she quietly played in her room so that I could sleep in a little, so when I got up I asked her if she wanted to learn how to do a wire wrap. I was surprised at how patient she was since this took almost two hours but she did it! I helped her with the bindings, but she did all of the cutting, crimping, and all of the other bends. I was doing one at the same time so she just followed what I did. There were also a couple of times that I helped her to straighten her wire back out to keep it manageable. Once it was finished I helped her do a few adjustments but the main objective for now is to get her to know and understand the steps of the entire process. She's 7, and here's her first wrap (honest!!) in brass wire, silver half-round binding ......

Wow, awesome job! Way to go, Harlie, you've got your daddy's talent!
I have a 7-yr-old, too, and I can't imagine trying to teach her something with so many steps!

Way to go Harlie, you must have had fun wrapping with your dad and the wrap you made is so beautiful. But the best part is the time you share with each other. That wrap sure is special and looks beautiful on you.

Yeah, she even has her own custom built chopper! ;D lol.... she even did the bends on the top, I could hardly believe it myself. She wants to do another after school tomorrow. I need to get some of the good copper wire from Brandywine, I'd like to see her doing them alone by the end of March. Hopefully I can keep her interest in it, you know how kids can be. lol

Seven years old and she made such a wrap!!! Hard to believe! But you surely passed to her the wrapping gene which of course is very strong in your case Adrian

Funny thing, she was upset when she saw me do the swirls on the top of mine. She said "I can't do that" and just started bending the wire. I looked at it and said "damn", that looks good! She said "but it doesn't look like yours". lol She wanted to start on another before school this morning but I said no way. I wouldn't have been able to get her on the bus. I already have a cool cab picked out for her, it's another African brecciated jasper. I had forgotten how much of that stuff I had cabbed, Rockyraccoon kept me supplied with alot of stuff from Africa. I still have alot of it that hasn't even been touched yet!
