Got my butterfly today. It sure is pretty! Thanks for letting me play! I'll work on it here soon. Right now it is sitting here looking at me, thinking about what it wants me to do, LOL.

Looks like all the little butterflies have a temporary home before they fly back to you. I was tempted but have so many things going on right now I wasn't sure I would have time to get it done. I am really looking forward to seeing the pictures when they are all done. Good luck everyone! Fran

Yea Sherri! Can you pm your addy to me and I'll mail it out tomorrow. Also, this last butterfly had a casualty enroute from Steve to Me. The glue on one wing is loose and flaps. Do you want me to take the glue off before sending it to you? or send it as is?
I tried pming you but when I click on "send personal message" it indicates that I am sending it to someone other than your name, Rockhobbit.
I know you will do something wonderful with it. Thanks for participating!
Tigger, the one I chose for myself just sat silent for about 2 weeks before she decided to let me know she was ready. Then she kept saying no, not that way, this way. lol....somehow that doesn't sound right. lmao.

I recieved mine yesterday... and wow, Steve, great job!!! Smaller that I expected, I hope I can do it justice. I have the one on the top right in the pic. Thank you, Lori, for sending me this one. I had been trying to figure out how to attach the three pieces together ( without it looking like Frankenstein's Butterfly ), and when I opened it and saw just the two wings I was somewhat relieved . ....Now.... hmmmm... how can I attach these two pieces together? ....

Sitnwrap .... thank you for the offer.
I am actually going to try something a bit goofy.
I started tracing out on paper the butterflies you are showing. I am trying to do them as close to their real scale. Then I am going to make makeshift butterflies out of air dry clay to practice on.
This way I cannot hurt the beautiful cabs!!
Besides, if I remember correctly I am an "auntie" to a butterfly!!!
As Always!! Julie

Julie, that sounds really interesting. Can air dry clay hold up under the presure of being wrapped? I hope you take pics of what you are doing and post it. I would love to see it. "besides, if I remember correctly I am an "auntie" to a butterfly" I think I missed something somewhere or my memory is not serving me as well as yours is serving you. But if you just became an auntie to a butterfly, congratulations! lol. Chris, with your style in mind, I can visualize exactly how you would wrap it. But this is your baby so .

Chris, with your style in mind, I can visualize exactly how you would wrap it. But this is your baby so . Can you really..... could you tell me what you visualize? 'Cause I have come up with nothing so far .... This little butterfly isn't talking to me yet, but I'm sure it will soon .....

Sitnwrap ... yes I am a dork. I was thinking of the leaves that are being made for the tree. Since I cannot wrap well, let alone make grooved cabs, Frane adopted me and is making additional leaves for me.
As for the air dry clay ... I am going to try to make the butterflies a bit more plump and use a very easily pliable gauge of wire to play with. Probably between 22-24 gauge. Since these (butterflies) are such odd shaped items, unlike normal cabs, I can use the clay models instead of the real thing. (for the time being)

:)I'm glad it got to you. Have fun at the ranch. I wanted to know what a group of butterflies is called so I googled it. It is called a swarm or a flutter. The butterfly that damammy has posted will be joining our flutter Thank you so much damammy and to your husband Ken for contributing and a big welcome to the first wrapped butterfly. Lori Ps, I will be starting a new thread tomorrow for anyone who wishes to post pics of their various wrapping stages of the butterflies.
