Well, I did this today, the top didn't come out how I was planning, but I think I worked ( forced ) it out OK... what do you think? Also, I have heard, and seen, that flint can have some pretty bright colors, such as Flint Ridge Flint... but all I have found in my area is black, brown, white, and some very muted mottled pieces.... until today!!! I saw this in a pile on a job site today, and couldn't belive it ..... unfortunately these are some pretty small pieces ( largest is about 3" at the widest ), I looked for more a little, but nothing...and boy is this stuff sharp!!!! Watch you don't cut yourself. You can really appreciate why Native Americans used this stuff for arrowheads and tools.
I tumbled a batch of Ohio flint and was really happy with the results. You should get a polish equal to any agate or jasper with this material.
Nice colour. Mmm, butter!

Very cool wrap and that flint looks like homemade taffy. Great find!

I love how it swings around in the front and also the wires at the bottom. That wrap is really pretty and original.
That flint is really pretty also. Maybe you'll find more of it another day.

Thank you everyone.... 150FromFundy .... I did cut myself a little.... flint knapping just blows my mind, this stuff is so brittle!!!! Tigger.... Taffy is the perfect description, if I put it in a candy dish, someone would hurt themselfs ( but I wouldn't do that ) The colors just don't look natural... sitnwrap .... I'm going to look for more, just this time off the clock, I was working the other day, so I only spent a minute.

Hiya Chris........great job on the wrap, I see great improvements. The stuff from the job site looks a lot like slag glass. I have a whole box full.........slag glass comes in a bazillion colors and is man made.

Hi Chris, Your wraps are getting better and better! That could be flint but you know, Shannon may be right. it could be slag glass. If it is, it is very pretty! Fran
