Wow, what beauties! I hope we'll see some cabs made from these in the future. I'm really loving the red blood cell rock.

That is some gorgeous material! It looks like you found a good site to collect orbicular jasper. I especially like the "blood cell" rock, but those red-on-green ones are cool too! It looks like you had a very successful day. Garry

You sure found some WINNERS! I like that 2nd nodule and the pinkish one looks like it may have orbicular characteristics. (8th pic down) Steve

Those rocks are awesome. I love the red orby ones and the red and green. The red is just so incredably red.

YEAH! That's what I'm talkin bout! All unique, beautiful stuff!
You better get some good pictures taken of yourself, so that your wife and kids won't forget what you look like once the snow melts.

I love the "red blood cell" rock. It looks like some sort of fossilized primitive life. The large one (pic 6) could very well be a nice Laker that still has a husk. The only way to find out would be to tumble or cut. How big is it? The white one in pic 7 looks like it has some banding on the front, but the back side sure looks opaque. I don't believe I've ever found the green ones. There must be a nickel deposit near there. Nice variety! It's really hard to resist nice pieces of banded iron formation ("jaspilite"), isn't it? It looks like my prompting you to walk the shore paid off! Chuck

Chuck...that big one is about 6"x5" 3-4lbs or so. When I've cut rocks that have looked like that in the past, they've often been moss agate. The white ones, pictured above are actually 2 rocks (4-5"). One is orbicular, one is not. They're very light pink, blue and green, black dots with an occasional splash of orange. Here's a pic of the back side of the orby one. It's not a good shot. (you can see the orbs faintly on the back in person, but the pic is a little burned out): Last year, I would have left the other stuff and come home with just the 3-4lbs of tumbler Lakers I found...not anymore. I'm really enjoying hounding the Jaspilite, Hematite combos, and the Stramatolite! Hell, I went the day you pm'd me!!! LOL! This was about 20 miles up the shore from where you were. There was one other hounder working the same 1.5 mile stretch. It will be picked over soon until the next storm.

Well, I guess tumbling is out of the question for that one! Face polishing might be fun.
Sounds like you found more Lakers than I did, but I only spent about an hour at it. I wish I lived closer to the Lake!
