My wife Cathy (Randysgal) and I brought a crapload of rocks home in that little rental car ;D lol ... We went rockhounding Tuesday and Wednesday with Jo (naturenut) and Bill, and we had a blast. This was the first time rockhounding for me and Cathy. Jo and Bill asked us each day what we wanted to look for next. Honestly, we were happy just to be uo there for the visit, they are alot of fun!! The rocks were a big bonus, icing on the cake, and we got to meet Amber and Tony as well. What a fun group!! This was also the first time that Cathy and I ventured out to meet board members, I'd do it a million times again if I could. Here's what we brought back....
Jo found this one, she said that I had to take it, it was my trophy. ;D lol.... I won't cut it, it's too damn cool to cut and it will remind me of our visit. It probably weighs around 120 pounds or more......
Our computer desk, here's a few nice sized chunks that I've scrubbed clean, all quartz based stuff (honey quartz, some pinks, whites....)
I wish that I could leave it on the desk, I love looking at this stuff! ;D
Moonstone, this stuff has the coolest flash when properly cut....
More honey quartz, quartz, and more quartz. This stuff takes an awesome shine!! (it's the same stuff that my cab came from in the wrap I traded for the ten inch saw) There are also alot of ugly rocks that sound like the harder agates and jaspers when you tap them together. I'm pretty sure that we're not in the glacier states over here, but I'm gonna cut all of this stuff open and see what's inside! There we also some pieces that had the appearance of petwood, cutting it open will tell the true story.....
Cathy found alot of these rocks under some tree roots. They and covered in red "garnet" looking crystals....
A whole bag of them....
