This was given to me by a vendor at a rock show, if you have any idea what it is let me know, it is a crystal type. Wrapped in scrap 22 g. square s.silver.

I have no idea & wouldn't particularly know how to tell for sure But according to this excellent book I'm reading "Fire & Blood-Rubies in Myth, Magic & History" by Diane Morgan a stone that is mistaken for ruby is 'red spinel'.
The way to tell the difference between the two is that that ruby is 'birefringent' ---which means when light enters the polish stone it is split into 2 separate rays=== the red spindle is ---singly refractive---
the author states this is an easy way to tell the difference between the 2 stones easy for her to say :DJ

Nice wrap. Maybe the stone is Muscovite?

Could be. Or it could even be raspberry aventurine. It looks like that too. No matter what it is, It is really pretty! Fran

Found this on e-bay and it looks like what you have only in the raw. It is Ruby Red Rhodonite. Tami
