Had a little time to re-trim some and cut out other preforms. I have lots more to do but it is raining again so I am inside....I was using the grinder but after 5 preforms, it shut itself off. It does that every once in awhile when it gets too warm. Boy does that frustrate me! here are some pics. The first has a little bit of the purple from Michael John Seam Agate from Michael John and some chrysocola A variety of slabs that I got from Catmandew Some red jasper, some red pet wood and some green ones with spots in them (green from Catmandew) The whole group Thanks for looking! Killer stuff there, Franny! Ooohhh, there's gonna be some good cabs coming, I can tell! Don't know about you, but I've been banned from the kitchen after a couple hours of cutting... too many dishes bit the dust! LOL. Jo

Fran, looks like lots of nice stuff. Can't wait to see the cabs! I've got some stuff from tony that I'm working on too, and more on the way (that I have no time to do anything with....sigh!).

If after cooling off, the grinder will start-up again, the problem is probably heat, caused by dust accumulation. If it does restart, turn it off, let it cool a while, then remove the motor housing. Inside, you'll likely see it's very dirty. Use compressed air and an old toothbrush to clean it up, then reinstall the housing and you should be good as gold.
If the motor won't restart, let me know. If you can give me the motor's specs, I'll look through the motors I have sitting around to see if I have one that'll do the job. I have about 10 motors in my storage, doing nothing.
Looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you. I'm glad to see that you're working some of my material. I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of the cabs!!!

I plugged in the motor this afternoon and it worked, thank goodness! I unplugged it and I am going to use compressed air like Michael John said to get it cleaned out. I also scrubbed everything and got it nice and clean...Well, as clean as it will get, anyway. I noticed that the sponge I had just put in is a little large so that could have been putting too much pressure on it. I trimmed it down so now it is sitting where it should be. With as many preforms as I have waiting, I need to get cracking on them! Fran
