I'm hoping someone out here has a older Lortone 20" vibra lap which might have a label on the motor they could tell me what the HP, and the RPM is. I burned mine down the other day and Lortone wants me to send the entire unit back so they can "match" up parts.... sounds like a waste of time and money... So I created my own set-up with a new motor, and it works great... however seems like it runs too slow and the vibrating motion is too "heavy"

I believe that Lortone uses the same motor for both the 15 inch and the 20 inch lap. I have a very old 20 inch and a fairly new 15 inch. When I get home tonight I'll try to remember to look on the motors for a label. Steve

Hi Jason, My Lortone 20 in has a 1/15 hp and 1625 rpm. It is a old one. If you need any more info on it , let me know. Daniel

Fantastic! Appreciate it much. I asked Lortone on the phone if they could tell me what the RPM etc.. was on the laps and they said "Sir I'm afraid we have no idea" - I believe that's a simple answer to make me send the unit back.
Again thank you much... that really helps....... The motor you have is about the size of a, ummm yeah! about 4" diameter 6" long and has a built in internal fan?
I'll try to get a photo of mine and we'll compare!

I see you already have a good answer. Mine's not much different. My older 20 inch Lortone has a Doerr model 50416D13A3 (not sure on a couple of the numbers) 1/15 HP and 1520 RPM. The newer 15 inch also has a 1/15 HP but runs at 1625 RPM. Your description is right on.
I suspect that the condition of the springs and balls is just as important as the exact specs on the motor.

Hey Steve! Thanks much... This will help me in finding a closer match during searching. I found a 1/15th HP Motor however I can only find them in 1500rpm. Also I have not located one "yet" with a internal cooling fan as the original motor had.
I'll keep searching!

LOL Never thought about checking the obvious places! I have all the catalogs in the world... but instead I've been going nuts trying to locate the motor on the net. Thanks for the link to Kingsley! Maybe I'll call them and find out the details of their motor and find one cheaper.
I located one in the net for around $70bucks, however I can't tell if it has a Internal fan or not. The motor which burnt up had a internal fan.... which is great as many times my vibra lap runs for weeks non stop!

Have you set up a reliable drip system? If I don't check my lap every hour or so bad things seem to happen. On the rare occasions I have time to run the lap I turn it off at night or whenever I have to be away from it for more than a couple of hours.
