That's pretty wild. I'm sitting here waiting for my sphere machine right now. I'm buying the Barranca demo model (serial number 1). It was used two years at Tucson, Quartzite and several weekend shows. They quoted a price I couldn't resist and are delivering it for free with new diamond cups, resin diamond pads, etc. Now, time to cut up some preforms.

Hi i'm new to the boards.
I have a sphere machine that my grandfather passed on to me. It looks to be homemade, I don't think he made it himself. It has 3 motors mounted on old door hinges with springs to pull them together at the center. And the base I think is probably around 1" thick, and is around 16" diameter. I'll take some pics and post them later. And maybe any of you can tell me for sure if its homemade.

Could well be homemade. We have a guy in CA that makes very similar units and sells machines, cups and does custom sphere making. Another guy that makes his own that look just like it. At Vista show last weekend the club had a whole table of gear motors like those for sale. Most use salvaged used gear motors that reduce speed (my machine runs 125 rpm and cups turn 12.5rpm (10:1 reductionn) or any speed I set reduced 10 times. Your machine can be used with pipe fittings and tumbling grit slurry or you can use diamond cups. Most home made machines used standard pipe thread to allow using bell reducers or other standard pipe fittings in steel or pvc. The ends bevel quickly with 60/90 grit.
