I decided that today I would slab up some Glass Butte (Oregon) obsidian to cab. We actually had some sun today, but of course by the time I was done slabbing, the sun was gone, so the nice rainbow, silver sheen, and gold sheen do not show up in the photographs. There is also some mahogany. I will try for some close ups if the sun reappears. The gold sheen is the lower left corner and are about 6 X 6 inches. The silver sheen is just above the gold.. Nice selection of slabs! I just dug glass butte a couple weeks ago at the yearly Flintknapping pow-wow. It rained, snowed, hailed, and anything else but sunshine! Came home with a great load as well!
Nice cutting

I just now discovered the existance of "silver sheen" obsidian. I have 45+ pounds of other kinds of obsidian but no silver obviously. Must... have... it!!!

Wow, those are all really nice! Too bad the sun didn't cooperate. I'd love to see them in the sun if you get a chance.

I just bought some silver Sheen for Knapping and it sure didn't look as well patterned as yours is. That you have is much, much better !

If you need Silver sheen... let me know! I have several hundred pounds for sale. Unsure how silver-y it is.... I just dug it a few weeks ago. I also have some awesome Midnight Lace! Check out my photo's from my recent obsidian trip - www.oregonthundereggs.com/glassbutte09.html Jason
