I picked this rock out of a pile at my in-laws house behind the barn. I'm in N.E. Wisconsin, and I scratched it with my pocket knife. Any help or suggestions appreciated. Thanks! Nate

Ha, that's funny MJ! After you said that I looked again and sure enough, it does look like a rotten mellon. Mike, I ground off a little spot with my dremel, and it's the same underneath, actually it has some sparkle to it. I was going to take a picture, but my battery was dead. I'll post a picture later after it's charged up. BTW, my mother-in-law thought maybe there's some copper content in the rock? Nate Edit : here's some pics of the back side of the rock where I ground with the dremel and a diamond bit. They're bad quality photos, but I think show enough detail. Dry: Wet

I have to appologize to mikes, I aparently didn't grind deep enough with the dremel to see what the inside of this rock looked like. I cut a slab off it today, and I guess it appears to be a dark granite. My daughter loves it and asked me to make her a necklace with it. ;D Nate
