Hi Y'all, check out this pic. we got it form Idianaola Oklahoma last week. It is fossilized Cactus...way cool !!!! but I am not excited..lol According to my cousin who works on a Pipeline business there is alot of this stuff from Henryetta to the indianola area on hwy 69 south. Thanks for looking Steve

Howdy Steve, *S* Hate to go all scientific on you but actually, that fossil is much older than cactus. It's an example of Stigmaria which are fossil roots of Carboniferous/Permian age Lycopod plants (giant clubmosses) such as Lepidodendron sp.. They are wide spread in Oklahoma and I think Haskell County is on of the type locations. Very cool and interesting fossil!.....Mel

I was glad to read Mel's post, I was feeling bad because the picture you posted has more detail and texture than the live one I have been pumping Miracle Grow into for the last ten years !
And giving the seat of honor in the middle of the front window !

Thanks Mel. I doubted the cactus but couldn't recognize as any kind of coral either.
