They all look good ... I guess which one you use depends on the stone you're wrapping.
Have you tried braiding 3 wires? That would look cool, too.

Pretty but......... when we twist wire or buy pre twisted wire it is one single wire which is twisted. You might be able to use it as the middle but you would need for it to lay flat. Maybe you could use it for a braclet? ? When I first started 3 years ago I came up with all kinds of ideas which only one or two worked, I ended up with lots of scap wire. After you have been wrapping for a while some of your inventions will work and some still won't. ;D I dreamed up a idea for a different wrap and finally did it and it looked like two eye balls staring at me. But you have to try some things come out great. (that was only a couple of weeks ago). Donna

Julie, your twisted wire looks great. How did you twist it? If you use all twisted wire for you wrap, it will be easier if you just twist the wire to the length of the circumference of the cab. leave a length of the ends free (untwisted for the bail). You can do this by twisting with an open end or hollow pin vice.
Also, if you really love to twist wire, as I do, you may want to invest in a ball peen hammer and steel plate so you can pound the twisted wire to get a flat surface, as damammy suggested, This will allow you to bind the twisted wires nice and even.
I can see some beautiful wraps coming from the twists you created.

To date I have been twisting my own wire. I put one end of the wires in a mini table vise and wrap the other end around a pencil and twist until I get the desired effect.
So far ... I have been pretty lucky about the twisting working. However I do understand about the ending the twisted part at the bail. It does not look as well as I would like.
I just love the way the square looks with the round wire. I have an ever growing list of supplies and goodies to get for this aspect of rocking. The ball peen and steel plate are now added.
Thanks as always guys!!!!! Julie

Julie these look very cool. You for sure need yourself a hammer and an anvil of some sort-gotta pound that wire! Braiding 3 together, as MJ mentioned above, looks really good when it's hammered. Depending on how you've arranged your wires, the twisted ones' don't have to be the bail (or am I misunderstanding what you're saying??)

Now .... I have been watching the posts here and am wondering something .... Remember I am a dork when It comes to new stuff ....
Why pound the wire and which wire am I to pound?
The square wire ... to me ... looks awesome with the round. I also understand that the twisted wire will need to stop right at or under the bail .... but you lost me at pounding the wire ....
Help please ...
As always Julie

Julie, we are trying to say we think your wire is pretty, but it will not lay close to the stone, and when you do binding wire around it, it will not be smooth. This is not a very good wrap, I did it a long time ago, but maybe the pictures will show you what I mean. Donna [

Now I understand this a little better.
Now it boils down to practice, practice, practice. I am taking a "me" day tomorrow and will be playing a bit trying to do wrapping again.
Again ... thanks all ... Julie
