Great way to re-use the chicago tumbler, Tom. I loved the barrel on mine, but returned it for a refund when I took it back for the third time to be replaced under warranty. I even asked what they do with the defective equipment. If they threw it out I was gonna ask for the barrel back, but they said they ship it back to the manufacturer.

The term 'overkill' comes to mind . At least there's nothing left to breakdown now. Good work. ;D Dr Joe .

I know its a bit of an overkill, but most of the parts are free, including the brush type motor. They were throwing the motor away at work, so I snagged it. I wanted it, since it only draws .33 amps, loaded or not. Had to take the drive roller out of the chicago. Spin it around, buy and extension to fit a 3/8" bore 4" pulley, the motor pulley is 1-1/2"X1/2" bore. Figured no sense in leaving the out of warrenty burnt up motor Chicago sit and gather dust. This little set up spins the barrel at a sweet 54 rpm. Quite as a babies snore. Perfect for our stones in polishing stages.

Nice recycling job. The CE barrels are superior to Lortones, and the chassis isn't bad either. If only they had a decent motor and belt, they'd be a bargain.
