layers could indicate some sort of onyx
the other is obviously a very hard potato is it from Idaho?

I think the first one is petrified Italian bread. Try treating it with olive oil, garlic, and parmesan cheese and see what happens! ;D

both appear to be some sort of sedimentary conglomerate, I'd imagine they are fairly soft too, especially the red/yellow one?
