I think I am in love with this little thing .... however ...
I am getting a little (not a lot ... but enough to see) sparking. Is this normal? There is enough water and it is cool/cold water from the tap.
Also ... I would really like to know how I can get around needing a rain coat!!
As always ... Julie

Sparks are normal, however, "excessive" sparks are the most obvious indicator that your water level is low. Keep your water topped-off. "Excessive" sparks can also be an indicator that you're rushing the blade, and that can cause unnecessary added blade wear. You'll get "the feel" for the right speed to cut.
You shouldn't need a raincoat, especially if you're standing BEHIND THE BLADE as you should be. I just wear a t-shirt, but I change t-shirts about once an hour.

You might also check wind direction. The WF likes clean water as well. When I'm cutting, I often turn my hose on very slightly and just let it run into the pan. This keeps the pan topped off and the water fairly clear. Do you have one of the new style where the pan is part of the body or do you have the old style where the pan is totally detached?

Okay!!!! I will try it behind the blade!!!
As for the water level .... I am good in that area .... and I also as was suggested to me earlier, have an additional pot of water ready to refill.
Maybe if I post pics of me .... you'll see the humor!!! NOT!!!
Tomorrow .... I will be a cutting fool!!!
As always .... My humble thanks and gratitude that I have such fine friends to always show me the way.

You'll love cutting! It's addictive. You'll soon be picking up rocks, looking at them thinking "I wonder what this looks like inside..." Then you'll soon have rock piles in your yard of discards. Why not start a garden border? ;D
Oh, BTW, don't be too afraid of the blade. Be respectful, but willing to work closely. You will have ruined nails in this hobby... and other women will look at them and not understand... but you can smile back at them with pride!
