Howdy Jamie, Boy I don't have many poppy type jaspers listed from Arizona. Aside from the obvious, the yellow stuff you guys found at Burro creek and the stuff you sent me from near Phoenix (the gold and maroon material) I only know of three others. The so called Flower Jasper which is actually a poppy type jasper from near Brenda, AZ, The beautiful red poppy on hematite stuff from Cave Creek ( sold as Cave Creek Jasper) and Jasperella which is a trade name for a sort of chrysocolla, hematite, red jasper and agate mix from La Paz, Co. AZ, which is not all that regularly orbicular. Any other Arizona poppy jasper would be a new one to me but that being said, you can find some orbicular/flower examples from almost every jasper or agate deposit I've ever seen Ie. Stone Canyon, Lavic, Cady Mtns etc. Very few are almost consistently orbicular or flowering like Hornitos or Morgan Hill though.....Mel

Nope Jamie, That's a new one for me. Whoo hoo great score! Looks like you've discovered a fine new poppy site and the colors are different than I'm used to seeing. Looks like a true orbicular form too with the "poppies" being little three-D spheroids. From the picture it looks to be non porous too, or is it more of a rhyolite and more coarse grained like leopardskin jasper? I have seen some similar colored orbicular rhyolite but don't know where it came from. If it's nice and solid and well replaced by silica it looks like you've got to start working on a trade name because with the supplies of most the other poppy jasper drying up, you're gonna have a great new item to market for which I'm sure there will be a lot of demand......Mel

That's some kewl stuff. Is the black Hematite? How "quartzy" is the material, overall? I REALLY like the looks of it. Have you sliced and cabbed any of it yet?

Hey Jamie, that is real pretty rock you found. From what Mel has said, looks like your secret stash pile is going to get bigger.

Wow, that is a great score! How big of a deposit was it? It looks like the slabs will have some great contrast with the Black matrix. Should be a real winner!

That would be a great idea Amber. I need to send some to Mel so he can take a closer look. I'd say it borders on being rhyolite but there is no coarseness and no pitting in any that I brought home.

Kind of looks like the bird's eye rhyolite we find in Quartzsite, AZ. Anxious to hear what it is. JoAnne
