Here are the two best of the pink limbs I found in central Oregon this week. I spent the morning hiking the hills and found these just as I was getting ready to head back to the truck. This twisted one was buried except for a small portion. This shows some of the knots. This one was laying on the ground in plain sight. Thanks for looking. chasfire

Wow, that first one is exceptional. It is definitely a hard place to find good limbs. The area is regularly scoured by rockhounds. I've heard stories from folks in my club about trips there after big storms yielding buckets full of limbs. I haven't had great success there though.

Thanks for all the comments.
mikes there doesn't appear to be any opal in any of the material I found.
I did cut one today that is filled with light green moss and plumes. That made my day.

Really nice limb cast! I regret not having cell phone coverage so we could have linked up with you. Darn 'phone company has not put cell towers in Succor Creek yet LOL. Woody

Those pinks are nice. I saw some for sale at the Deming, New Mexico show, but didn't buy any. Hopefully I'll buy some next time around.

Man, I wish there was stuff like that in my area just laying around waiting to be dug up and picked up. That had to have made your day.

That first one has nice detail. On my one time in that area, without finding any full specimens (but lots of fragments), I found this (on the left) at the very last minute-or-two before we left: I'm pretty sure it is an agate-cast-hickory nut. On the right is a modern hickory nut for comparison.
