Well i went down to a certain area and some of the combinations of rocks looked like they were shimmery rusted but when i rubbed on them, they seemed to rubb of to a shinny copper look but almost had a black interior..... I also started looking around and i was finding rocks that looked green and tanish with a deffinant deep copper shimmer to it...but it was almost irridecent not flaky. Also found some that were half and half colored with black inbetween them....i was told it might be this....found a picture that looks exactly like the stone.....but imagine it in the rough....like the one next to it. Are these good cab rocks? do people like these?(i think the ones i found had a little bit more blue tint to them instead of the green) LET ME KNOW WHAT YAH THINK......THANKS EVERYONE!

Looks to me like you've probably got yourself chrysocolla, cuprite, and hematite, maybe in quartz. DEFINATELY not Leverites!
Go back to where you found it, and bring binoculars. Scan the near-by hills slowly and carefully with your binoculars, looking for a vein or area with those blue/green, red, and/or black colors in it. If it's a "virgin" site, it will be hard to spot, because the vein or area is likely mostly covered with dirt. You'll be looking for little areas where it may be peeking-out.
IF you found those pieces on a hillside, within close proximity of each other, your luck is MUCH better. Just go back to exactly where you found them, and climb slowly up that hill, watching the ground around you for those colors to be peeking-out. The probability is that you're looking for a vein that runs horizontally/diagonally through the hill, and it's probably 1 to 3 feet wide. There may even be more than one vein, possibly even a lot of veins. If that's the case, each vein is likely to be slightly different, and my guess is that the higher the vein is on the mountain, the better the material will be.
Now, if you found this, there's a distinct chance that someone else found it at some time. So, if you find a vein or veins, before you start digging and get all excir=ted, look around for claim markers. They could be sticks, poles, or maybe even just cairns (piles of rocks). If there are claim markers, one of them has to have the claim paper. Read the claim paper to see if the claim is still valid. If not, too bad for them!

no claim markers...this is on a very hard to get to beach area. and the cliff is straight up and down and all dirt like...maybe ill go when it rains....maybe that will help so i can see the colors better. If i see something that resembles a vain of this stuff ill get a huge ladder and lean it up and see if it will reach.....lol....
Ill just take a picture of where im going and what im hounding.....lol....that way you guys can understand with where im hounding at.
So many questions on all my good colored rocks....LOL.....

Well, if nothing else, at least pickup all the ones you see. They're definately worth the effort to carry out.

Michael John:
Scanning the hills with glasses works well where you are.............here in Washington, the hills are covered with trees, and underbrush. The beach material Jay found may well be from glacial till from Canada, or Alaska. We even find good jade on those beaches. Woody

Woody, he hadn't mentioned anything about this being on a beach before I posted. Here, everything gets covered by blowing dirt, so I doubt it's any easier. Binoculars are just good for catching possible, hopeful glimpses.

Cut and polish some, see if it's any good. Hard to go wrong with anything that's bright red and green if it's hard enough and takes a polish.
Lots of books on collecting in your state, get thee to a library and do some research, you might be surprised at what WA has to offer. Look for special state issues of Rocks and Minerals, Lapidary Journal, and prolly other mags too.
