I picked this up at a jewelry show in San Mateo, CA this last weekend. My wife wanted some Lapis that had a deep color as well as a sprinkling of Pyrite and no Calcite for me to set in a ring that we traded for a few months back. We didn't really want a piece his big but......a dealer friend from Afganistan that I have known for 20 years or so was a fast talker and wheeler dealer and gave us a killer deal on it. It is 1kg (and sold by the gram!!). I think there is enough in this piece for a good ring cab. Bob

Wow, what a nice piece. Royal blue is such a nice color for lapidary materials, but very few materials have it.

Ahhhh, brassy on deep blue, that's the GOOD stuff. Bought a piece last fall, most expensive piece of rough I've ever bought lol, you're damn lucky to get such fabulous material at a good price. Thanks for the pics, too yummy. The deepest blue might just be afghanite, but would require analysis or an expert opinion, if they can even be distinguished by eye.
BTW - KEEP THE SAWING/GRINDING DUST, it has significant value, believe it or not, as a pigment, painters pay a fortune for it. Definitely worth saving, don't let it get mixed up with the other sludge and lost.
