I while back I posted something about annoying the neighbors with WF cutting. If the neighbors are outside I generally won't cut however I did find one solution to the issue and my wife, thinking me a little insane, took a picture. All the neighbors with any common sense are inside with the windows closed during a thunderstorm.

That is quite a setup you have there. That would be me - and husband would take the picture. I bet all you neighbors have this photo too, taken from their windows. :-) Thanks for the grins. Barb

Now that's funny!! Shouldn't you be grounded? Goodness forbid you get struck by lightning.
Oh .... by the way .... how are you getting the ongoing water supply to your WF?
I find that the water issue and worrying about the levels do take some of the fun out of sawing. Every 4-5 slices, I have to stop, remove the blade guard, check the water and add if necessary, put the blade guard back on and restart. It's a pain in the butt.
As always ... Julie

Oh .... by the way .... how are you getting the ongoing water supply to your WF? Julie Julie, it was raining pretty hard. Water supply wasn't an issue. I keep the hose handy too (you can see it in the picture). I spray the tray clean frequently which serves to top off the reservoir. Every once in a while I will set the nozzle on "jet" and blast it into one of the drain holes until the water is spraying clean off the blade. The patio gets pretty messy though and I have to be more careful sweeping up after. My daughter got a rock splinter in her foot yesterday.

Randy .... hahahahha .... he gets zapped ...... I get his WF!
10thumbs .... the reason I asked is it appears that hose (in the picture) is connected to your WF.
OH crap .... I can actually spray off the top without having to remove the blade guard and metal plates??
As always ... Julie
ps ... rock splinters .... not good ... hope she is okay!!!

A) Take the blade gaurd off. It's in the way and serves NO purpose. If anything, it's more of a danger.
B) Remove the shiny metal top from the saw. You don't need it. You'll get an extra 1/2" of cutting depth by removing it!

You are out there in a T storm sitting in a metal chair cutting with an electric saw with head phones on. Good plan! act nutty/do something dangerous=neighbors wont bother you.

10thumbs .... the reason I asked is it appears that hose (in the picture) is connected to your WF. Nope it's just laying next to the WF And another thing .... you talk about one of the drain holes .... I only have one drain hole ... Sorry, I'm talking about the drain holes from the tray, not the reservoir. If I spray water into one of the tray drain holes the water running out of the reservoir drain hole usually runs clean after a few seconds. A) Take the blade guard off. It's in the way and serves NO purpose. If anything, it's more of a danger. The guide serves no purpose and is a danger. The guard keeps you from sand blasting your face with all the little bits of rock being thrown off the saw. Also, if the saw isn't throwing water I add more so I'd get soaked without the guard. And if I wanted to get soaked I wouldn't have absconded with my daughter's little pink umbrella. You are out there in a T storm sitting in a metal chair cutting with an electric saw with head phones on. Good plan! act nutty/do something dangerous=neighbors wont bother you. The chair is aluminum. The umbrella is plastic. I heard a lot of thunder but I never saw any flashes of lightning. I would have quit if I did and my wife would have literally pulled the plug instead of snapping pictures. I didn't feel like it was unsafe *famous last words*.

I agree with KEEPING the guard on the machine. I truly regret removing the guard and throwing it away from mine. The guard serves to direct the flow of water back onto the blade. You might not always need it (you might not always use it), but it's a great help when you can use it.

Gotta love them neighbors. I decided I put up with the neighbors rap or hindi or sometimes spanish music (depends on which neighbor). I just decided to wait till 10 a.m. and not to cut past dark. I don't think they have much to complain about. If they are planning a party, they can let you know ahead so you can cut around it.... Cool set up! Fran
