Chalcopyrite is mohs 3.5 to 4. If you want to tumble it you must grind to shape and stay with the finer grits and polishes. It gets its colour being a sulphite of copper. In untarnished condition, it is a brass colour. The peacock colours come from tarnishing. The tumble will eliminate the tarnish. The colours can be enhanced by soaking in sulpheric acid, or nitric acid. I advise caution there, too long and good by piece. I also do not reccomend picking it out of the solution with your fingers.
