Today I roughed out a rainbow obsidian sphere. It is 3.52 inches in diameter. It's not polished yet. Pictures taken wet in full sun. Steve This is what I call the top: and this is what I call the bottom:

You did an amazing job orienting the colors to the center of the top. Just beautiful. I hope you post a pic when you finish polishing it.

Sitwrap: One advantage of a sphere is that you can call the top any part you want, so I had no part in orientation - just start with a good rock. Before I can polish it I need to grind out a few more spheres, then clean the machine, sand all at 220, clean machine, sand all at 600, clean machine, make new polish pads and polish. I seem to contaminate my pads fairly regularly. I hope to get it done within the next couple of months.
