I was in Wyoming, near Cody, last week and came across this material at one of the sites in the Rockhounding Wyoming book. I talked to an older lady who used to own a rockshop in Cody, and she said it was coprolite. This is a small(4") chip that I knocked off of a 15lb piece. www.gametrails.com/images/070209 02.jpg[/img] I have to take her word for it, even though it doesn't look like the coprolite I am used to. It polished up real nice, except for the few white spots, which I think are calcite inclusions. There was so much of this material laying around that I had to do some major highgrading. Thanks for looking. chasfire

Mel:
There was some material there that I thought was definitely coprolite. It was rounded and flattened(they looked like small petrified "cow pies". There were even a few that had two or three globs together. These were not agatized and looked just like the matrix of some thundereggs. In fact I was going to haul one out and cut it to see if it had agate in the middle. However, I decided to use the rock hammer method of determining what was inside of one of them since there were so many. Alas, no agate just matrix.

mikes:
It was at Site 62:Colored Chalcedony along Hwy 120
You need to take the right hand fork in the road just before the gate. Then hike up to the gray gumbo hills.
Good luck.

Now go back and get the other 14 pounds. If you go back, I sure would like to have a chunk of that looks like poo. Curt
