Very pretty piece! Also very delicate I would think. Calcite can't be put in an acid wash so what do you clean it with? Fran

That's a really neat specimen. I have never seen anything quite like that before. Thanks for sharing. Barb

You can clean it with Super Iron Out. Soak for a few days and then soak in clear water with baking soda added in it for the same amount of time. Will remove iron stains. Wont harm calcite like acids do. Ken

That is one beautiful specimen. You caught an incredable sparkle in that last pic and can just imagine the whole piece looking like that in the sunlight.

Er.... no. Look a lot more like chalcopyrite on quartz to me.
Chalcopyrite not pyrite because I see purple-ish iridescense, and more of a tetrahedral form than a cubic, tough to see, would need clear closeup pix to be sure. Not seeing any cubes tbh.
Quartz not calcite as it's a little too prismatic, easy to distinguish, by cleavage, hardness, or an acid test.
Locality also somewhat dubious, but who knows, Chile has lots of mins.

Wow, angry much? Are you new to the interwebs? You wanted some attention, and you got it...
How about you don't post dubious pics of stuff you can't identify properly? Learn to use a camera, show me the cubes. Do an acid test please... if I'm wrong I'll say sorry. Rest assured you'll get my opinion when you post pics that are not correctly identified. Somebody has to offer a tiny bit of quality control around here. If you think my response was snarky, well, I didn't even ding you on your spelling of Chile...
I don't provide an email address or directions to my house because of punks like you.

Yea the acid test helped confirm..that is a very nice specimen which I forgot to add in my last post..that was a good find at a grage sale...I live in a neighborhood with something like 5000 houses and this last year I went around asking at all the garage sales if anybody had any rocks or stones so...good find..was that all the person had or did he have more rocks at the yard sale?
