You certainly don't do anything by halves, do you! I love the broken preform in the third picture.

Nice. The rhodochrosite looks like rhodonite to me.

there is one rhodonite there. It is the one with a 3 on it. The rest are rhodocrosite. Lots of sparkle in them that just doesn't show in the pictures. Some of my rhodocrosite has a lot of white in them and most have the black and that is what I cut this time. It is definitely different from the rhodonite in texture and a little different in hardness. (Unless there is a more christaline rhodonite, then I could be wrong) Fran

Frane .... thanks for posting this. It has helped me greatly seeing how you cut your rocks for preparation in tumbling and the slabs as well.
I know that for most, getting batches ready for all phases is simple.
But, when I start to think of what I would like to do, I overwhelm myself about how many different things I want done NOW, that I get a little down in the mouth because I want it NOW and can't do it all NOW. ;D
So ... I have already put together a few bowls of bigger rocks to saw and will get busy with it, hopefully a little tonight.
As always ... my humble thanks

Fran: Your tumbles are always so pretty, so now I have to watch the master slabber to see how you prep them, so I can get something in the Lot O! I love the quartz, it is sparkly already! This will be a pretty batch! Amber
