I have an offer to get a ride to hound Agate Road tomorrow, but I have to pay for gas, lunch, and drinks. Problem is, with all of the hell I've been through this week, I'm flat broke. So...
For your $25, I'll send you a flat-rater with 15 pounds of pick-of-the-haul Agate Road agate, plus 10+ pounds of Johnnie Quartzite and Boysenberry Quartzite. In order to go, I need the money before 6AM tomorrow morning, and I'll need to sell TWO of these batches to do it (my profit is only $15 a batch, since $10 is shipping). I assure you that I'll hook you up WELL if you purchase one or both of these batches.
If you'd like to help me get out to hound, send $25 to my PayPal account, groovatism@hotmail.com, THEN PM me to let me know you've made the purchase. The price includes free Priority Mail shipping within the continental US (I pay the $10.35).
Thanks for your consideration!
Michael

For anyone who hasn't gotten one of MJ's terrific FRB's, you really need to jump on this. He crams the box so full you can't get another grain of sand in there (well.....maybe one or two). And the material is always 1st quality & gorgeous. You won't be sorry. Jo

I didn't have enough money to go hounding last Saturday, BUT while walking to the mini-mart on Tuesday, something shiny on the ground caught my eye. It was a broken gold bracelet! The pawn shop gave me $30 for it, and I hit Agate Road yesterday! Although I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted out there, because my companion was too hot, I managed to get 200+ pounds of very nice agate. We dropped it off at my apartment, so now I need to get over there to sort, clean, weigh, and put together some batches for sale. Tom will get the best of the haul, as promised.
FYI ... my current situation is that my roommate lost his job, didn't pay utilities with the money I gave him, and the electricity has been shut-off since 6-29. I worked-off my June and July rent with my landlord, and my roommate has moved-out, leaving me holding the bag for the apartment. Luckily, my landlord isn't holding me liable for the other half of June and July rent. I now have to come-up with deposits for the utilities ($210 just for the electricity alone!), and I don't think my landlord can afford to let me work-off August rent (maybe half, but he doesn't know yet). I need to find a new roommate ASAP, but that's not going to happen with the utilities not on LOL. I went to welfare to see if they could help with any of this, but to no avail. So, at this point I don't know if I'll be able to keep/save this apartment situation or not, barring divine intervention. One step forward, two steps back, just when I thought things were looking up.
Anywho ... as always, I haven't lost faith or determination, and I know things will work-out one way or another. Please keep me in your prayers.

This is a true story....I know because it happened to me: I was a professional housekeeper for a good many years, and had a lot of houses I cleaned every day, for a lot of very good people. I didn't know how good they were, until my husband became very sick, and had to be hospitalized, and have surgery. We were there for 29 days! I did not leave his side, except twice a week to drive 90 miles back home, and clean a business building or two, so I would have enough money to eat on while at the hospital. Well, the whole time we were there it was one problem after another, and we didn't think he would ever get better, the doctors were talking about doing another surgery, and weren't sure what they would do after that. Somehow, keeping in mind, that on Sunday that great week, things had not changed, he was still very sick, but somehow, on Monday......he woke up that morning, and everything was fine. MIRACLE !! He goes home on Wednesday. Now I have to start thinking about all the bills that have been neglected over the past month, where to get the money, how to get the money etc. I jumped back in to housekeeping the day I brought him home, with a vengeance, thinking there was no way to get the money except work my tail off and earn it. I arrive at the first house, a 2 hour job, expecting to find the usual easy clean-up I always did. I always had this rule, check is on the counter, or I don't clean....kept me from getting stiffed, and it worked, but I NEVER touched the check, looked at it or anything, until the job was complete, then I would take it, make sure it was the right amount, and leave for the next house to be done. For some reason I never even looked at that check, I just folded it up, and hurried on to the next house. That night, I was sitting there trying to get things in order for a deposit, and what do I see...yeah, those people had written me a check for 400.00!!!!!!!, the 2nd house I did.....was supposed to be 40.00 but she had written the check for 100.00!!!!At first I thought it was some sort of mistake, but at the bottom of each of these checks was a note that said "gift for Marie" in the notes line! This happened to me all week long. So you see....God does work in misterious ways, he did for me on more than one occasion just like this one, and he will for you! Keep the faith, things always have a way of working out, especially when you think they never will. I wish that at this point I could buy some stuff from you, but my financial situation is not the greatest either...I will however pray for you and your situation. Marie

I'm bound to get flamed for saying this, but here goes ...
I know I'm saying what many are thinking, but face the facts.
It's wearing a bit thin now mate. For the past 6 months you've been coming here asking these good people to bail you out.
It's time for you to move on. I don't mean move on from the boards, I mean move on from the little town/villiage/place you are at now.
Whats to stop you? You ain't got no property there, you ain't got no ties. Don't come the 'I ain't got no transport' route either. You got the same things as I have, and I've travelled around the whole of the UK, and most of Europe using the same things. It's those stumpy digits on the sides of your hands. Thumbing a lift is cheap easy and fat free.
Try getting to a bigger town. Yeah, so when you get there you'll have nothing. So what ya got now then?
Try looking at it this way.
The town yer in now only one macdonalds so only one job, with 50 people looking for it. Next town, 2 macdonalds, two jobs with 75 people looking for it. You got an even better change than where you are. Plus you got all the other opportunities of earning a buck one way or another.
Another benefit in a new town is a new start. People wont know you.
I do understand the predicament you are in really I do. I know how hard it is. I've not been working for the last 6 months, had two job interviews in that time, and I'm still waiting to find out about one of those. So it's not like I don't know how it is.
You've not heard me coming on and asking again and again for help. Yeah, I know I got more chance of turning blood into wine than I have of getting help from here, but hey, give us a break fella. It's been 6 months now. Think about it.
Anyway, enough said...........................
Let the flaming begin

I'm bound to get flamed for saying this, but here goes ... Cant see any reason for flaming Rogue. You voiced an opinion in a respectful manner. We all have different opinions and I appreciate them all when voiced in a tactful way. Shan

OK...not sure about the flamin' thing....but getting around by thumb in the US is just about a by-gone...I'm not pickin' up someone I don't know off the side of the road...never know what they have in their hip pocket. I see your point, I really do, it's not like the same thought has not crossed my mind a time or 2 about other people I know. I am a new member, so I don't know him at all, but one thing is this - he's not asking for something and you get nothing in return, he has a product, that some people may want, and he sells it, from what I understand to be a fair price, so what's wrong with that? It did not appear to me that he is asking you or anyone else to pay the rent for him....he DID work it off physically with his landlord, and he's not asking you to pay his utilities, He is selling a product like a lot of other people do, at a fair price, those who will buy it, will, those who won't....won't. At least he is trying. A good friend of mine once told me this - There is a guy standing on the corner with a sign that says "will work for food", whom a lot of people will not help because he is "just another vagrant asking for a hand-out"....My friend would rather, and so would I, take a chance on him being just that, than take a chance that I just refused the only chance I'll ever get to help who might be Jesus, testing to see what exactly what I would do. So the ultimate question is this: what would you rather do? Take a chance on someone you don't know, or walk away saying things that just might hurt someone who is temporarily down on their luck?

With only 254 posts in over 3 years, I would imagine you've missed some threads, I know I cant keep up with them all either. Rogue definitely voices his opinion as he sees fit, sometimes with tact, sometimes not so much. LOL. But if you HAD seen all of his posts, you would see kindness as well.

So suggesting that he moves to a bigger town giving himself a better chance of getting a job isn't posative?
Hmmmm, guess if its not done for you its not worth doing huh?

Making that suggestion is not necessarily a negative thing....sometimes it's all about HOW you say things....not WHAT you say. I am all for voicing a persons opinion, Lord knows I am one of the most opinionated people you'd ever meet, but...I try to say things with tact, and not so much in a way as to degrade people.

And, being from the UK is, if you'll allow me to say it, a lot different from over here. In the UK, nobody is allowed to have a gun, for one thing. Also, you guys have a LOT more socialized programs than we do. So it's like comparing apples and oranges. If you hitchhike here, for one thing, you are taking your life in your hands. I won't pick up a hitchhiker, no matter what he/she looks like. And a hitchhiker who gets picked up is taking a huge risk. I guess it all comes back to the policy I use when watching tv. If I don't like what I see or hear, I just turn the channel. Perhaps that's what needs to be done here. In a tactful way, of course. Jo

From just reading on this here forum, it shows not, that you are allowed to have guns, but you do not have the proper respect for them. The right to bear arms does not automatically follow the right to have a brain. But you stay tuned, and you've changed channels back to this one again

Rogue, I don't take your initial post as bad. I believe that you were truly offering advice which would be valid for some people. However, if that were the best thing to do in my situation, I would have done it long ago.
I prefer to not go into detail in public, but there are situations in Pahrump which I cannot walk-away from. I have responsibilities and righting what-I-consider-to-be some past wrongs to attend-to. Regardless of personal hardships which I must overcome, I cannot walk-away from here. That would be SO wrong in SO many ways.
I did not post my situation asking for people here to come running to my rescue. It was simply a quick update for those who care. Advice is always welcome, though, and I thank everyone who is willing to take their time to offer it.
Another quick update ... I finally got my truck shifter fixed yesterday, so I'm able to use all of the gears now instead of just 2nd gear. It needs a lot more work, desperately, but at least it's a good step in the right direction.
(((HUGS TO ALL)))
