Julie, she's a doll! My last "baby" was a greyhound - the best friend I've ever had, and I miss him dearly even tho he's been gone 6 years now. Enjoy her company, and give her a little pat on the head for me!

If I ever choose to get an animal after Hope (life will suck big time and probably forever when she is not with me anymore) ...
I would seriously opt for a Greyhound or Whippit ...
There are so many Greyhounds, racing hounds that are abandoned every year that I would probably try to get 2. Greyhounds are wonderful, beautiful, peaceful, and completely loving dogs!!!!
But since I live a small house with a now small yard ... I would settle for 1. They are such beautiful, peacefull, and loving creatures!!!!

There are a couple things folks don't really realize about greyhounds. For one thing, their skin and hair is different - they sunburn pretty easily, and unlike most other dogs, they don't have a "natural" doggy odor. You can have one sleeping in bed with you, and nobody will ever know from the smell, cause there ain't one. Another thing is that they are the most GRACEFUL dogs I've ever come across - at one point, I and my ex had 5 golden retrievers, 2 poodles, and a cat living in the house with us. We never put anything on any table lower than 4 feet off the floor. But with a greyhound, I had prize art-glass pieces, flower arrangements, all sorts of things on the coffee tables, and they were never touched. And the third thing is that even though greys are natural athletes, they are also champion couch potatoes. My guy would give himself all the exercise he needed, when he needed it, by simply running figure-8's in the back yard. Wonderful dogs. I forgot to add my grey's portrait. His name was Nicky. Tom

My sister and niece run a Greyhound rescue operation in Santa Rosa, Calif. They really work hard at it and place a lot of dogs in homes every year. It is so sad that greyhounds are executed every year in astounding numbers after their racing careers are over. If patrons of dog racing tracks only knew or cared how badly these dogs are treated between races and how many are killed afterwards, maybe this disgraceful "sport" would end. If you want to know just how bad this treatment is, just put "greyhound racing abuse" in Google and see what you find. I warn you.... it will make you sick. Greyhounds are the most loving and beautiful dogs you can own. Many people who adopt one greyhound quickly take a second one into their homes. Whenever I see someone with a greyhound, I always ask them if theirs is a rescue dog. Most of them are, and I make a point of telling them how much I appreciate the fact that they rescued one of these wonderful dogs. I hope some of you who love dogs will do the same some time. By the way, my niece's website is: www.winecountrygreyhounds.com/ There are several photos of dogs that she has placed in homes. Take a look if you are interested. By the way Tom, that is a fantastic portrait of Nicky. It looks like he was a very happy dog! Vance

Vance, yes, he was a very happy dog. Greyhound Rescue picked him for me because his personality was on the extreme side of "up", and I needed to be rescued. Nicky was a dog in need of a job, and so was I. Together, we went to obedience classes, I got Nicky an ILP from AKC, and he subsequently earned his CD in 3 trials, 2 of which he took top hound and top sighthound honors. I served as an assistant obedience teacher, and Nicky was my "demo dog". Thus, he had a job, which he absolutely took delight in, and I had someone to save me from the depths of depression after a divorce. A true win-win, for sure.
A grey can turn a gray day bright, guaranteed.

All three of those babies look like true sweethearts and one can tell they are adored and are showered with love! Thinking about giving Angie her first summer haircut (she is two), we will see...

I thought they could be twins too Julie! LOL And they both resemble Naturenut's Rockhound! Hmmm... And what a gorgeous greyhound, Tom! And Weeshan, as long as we're posting *tiny* kids (LOVE both of yours), here are a few tiny ones: We have free range hens, and sometimes they hide their eggs a bit too well and hatch them out. The good mother hens take better care of their chicks better than we ever could, but there are a few rotten ones that abandon their babies-- then Cassidy takes care of them for a few weeks until they can fend for themselves, so we have house chickens off & on about half the year...

Here is Maddie, she is a cockerpoo (found abused dog) Here is Brak. He is the last of our little Israeli dogs that we brought back with us. he will be 12 in October and loves to sleep on top of a pile of pillows. Ya, their not too spoiled Fran

Just could not resist this one! Some great lookin' kids are showin'. My oldest Zane, and the littlest baby....Ozzie. He is 4 months old, and I like to call him my ADHD child, he is something else! Can't sit still for even a second. This is Ginger, she too is 4 months old, they are only a weeks or so apart in age, and both have the same mentality. And then we have the other "kids", 3 othe weinie dogs, snuggles...too cranky for pictures, Bo, too busy with other things to worry about me and a camera, both are black and brown like Ozzie, and always Karmel, who is a long haired red weinie, and was not in the "mood" to mess with me. Oh did I mention these 2? This is my gorgeous daughter Keisha, and my awesome, wonderful, beautiful red headed grandson Gabriel, who is 1 1/2.!! Not sure if I make it in the running with the other kids...but I'm pretty sure I come in close!!! LOL

Julie, your long-hair Lab is butt-naked. If you're going to pay a groomer I guess you might as well get your money's worth.

This is Zack, he's nine and a rescued dog he was two when herself got him, he belches farts and sulks, fits right in really. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between him and the youngest boy they're almost as hairy as each other as well. He doesn't like having his picture taken he left after another two shots. The show of teeth was a yawn. Simon

Yup definitely a yawn, he's a big softy, slept by the back door last weekend because herself and I had gone away, when we got back Monday he just laid on his rug didn't move until we made a fuss of him. He whines by the gate for 15 minutes before I get home from work, then ignores me when I get out of the car cracks me up he has a real teenager type personality. Wouldn't want him any other way.
