Howdy folks, Went to the PO the other day and picked up a box from our girl Jamie ( desertdweller). Boy it was like Christmas and just chock full of goodies! Thought I'd post pics of just a little of the neat stuff she sent. Lots of these are slabettes and just need a bit of grinding to be preforms ready for the dop sticks. She sure has access to some unusual and rare agate types. She also sent me some samples of her new Poppy type orbicular rhyolite which is also very interesting stuff, kinda like leopardskin out of Mexico but in different colors. I'm gonna try and tumble some for the kiddies and polish some on the wheel too. Anyway, here are the pics:
Some fortification agate slices:
Brenda Plume: The slab on the left is really cool and I'm trying to figure out how to shape it into a single weird long cab.
Don't know what happened here but the upper left slab is very nice Burro creek Purple and is definitely gonna get cabbed. Came out gray on the pic. The other is Marfa Bouquet Plume or something very similar.
This one will definitely make a pretty cab, kinda moss sagenite. Reminds me of similar stuff from the Pacific Northwest.
Another Brenda Plume and another one that looks like Texas stuff:
Moss that has lots of depth. Like looking into a pond:
Couple of these look like flower garden and the other is definitely Chihuahua fortification stuff. Nice!
Green plumy stuff and a couple more pretty mosses:
This one is a dead ringer for either Marfa black and white or lake Balmorea material from Texas.
Another nice jasper/agate nodule:
Couple of her neat orbicular rhyolite hunks. I really like the black with pink orbs!
OK, this one is weird stuff, kinda mossy jasper with silvery hematite. Looks like it's on fire and is very interesting material. Have similar stuff we call jaspelite from up by our Hornitos ranch but this has more yellow and orange thrown in. Looks like it'll cut surreal cabs.
