Went fishing again tonite with the kids. Got over 3 dozen minnows (very tiny minnows at that - wasn't too happy with them - too small! ) We got many bites, many stole the bait & fled - but my daughter managed to catch this one! Finally something that consists of a meal! Small mouth bass - not sure of it's weight - a few pounds maybe? Same fish - with both kids Probably going back again this week - we're trying to catch walleye and have been unsuccessful to date The bass start to get worms when the weather gets too warm Thanks for looking

When you catch the minnows hook em through the tail and throw em back in. They are what the big fish eat!!
Looks like a good dinner tonight!!

Nice bass. I'd say around 3 pounds. Funny it sounds like you were disappointed to catch that fish and I would kill to catch it. The smallies where I fish, smaller streams, rarely get to 12". Still fun to catch on ultralight gear though. Good luck with the walleyes, never caught one of those but don't fish for them.

Funny it sounds like you were disappointed to catch that fish and I would kill to catch it. Not dissapointed, just not what we were trying for (we're looking for walleye) we just end up fishing too early The bass around here get bugs or worms when the water gets warmer - which shouldn't happen because it's been so cold this "summer" - I cut it open last night and discovered that it has parasites in it - called black spot disease - here's what the fillets looked like - but mine only had maybe 4 spots not as bad as those pictures but it doesn't look so appetizing - the site's in french but the pictures are bilingual www.quebecpeche.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62072&pid=552433&st=15entry552433
