Not sure if this is exactly the right spot for this but here are a couple of nice concretions I found yesterday. These will be going in the flower beds. A person needs rocks outside their house too.

I think the one on the left looks like Casper, the friendly ghost, and the other one looks kinda like the Michelin Man. LOL! Maybe you should paint faces on them and stand them up in the garden. They would be unique, for sure! Tom

Paint the one on the left brown, you could make a Tom's peanut man out of it.

If you find one like this, don't put it in your garden!!!

Haha, that's the Venus of Willendorf- she's a hot-tamale! Was supposed to make you fertile.

I would totally tumble with that rock! Lapidary arts go all the way back to (at least) the Paleolithic!
PS - that chick from Lespugue has it going on as well, but I'll always love sweet Villy!

Very nice finds, Saskrock; they'll look great in the flower beds. What kind of rock(s) are they? They look like limestone and/or dolomite. I'm not familiar with Saskatchewan's geology. The shale and siltstone deposits we have here in south-central Pennsylvania yield A LOT of iron-rich concretions. A geology professor once told me that they are often composed of siderite. Has anyone worked with siderite in any sort of application? I understand that fictional Vikings are put off by The Venus of Willendorf (Michael Crichton's "Eaters of the Dead" and its movie version, "The Thirteenth Warrior"). What did she ever do to them?

I was going to say something about the Venus. The second concretion has a similar Shape.
