Some roofers left a 4" thick foam pad here, and I have found that my Thumler R6 tumbler is whisper quiet while grinding away atop the pad. I'm a noooby and have spent way too much time on this site this weekend looking for tips for recycling several electric motors I've lugged around for years and constructing my own tumbler with a bigger barrel.

Welcome and Congrats on finding the BEST site on the net for rock finishing. #1) The foam is a great isolator. Watch that the foam doesn't crush and make the tumble unlevel (a board between the foam and the tumble will help). #2) You can never spend to much time on here, there are always new additions . #3) If you have spent more than an hour here you may have to find more motors as there are so many projects & ideas here! There's a great bunch of people on here with answers to all the rock and world problems , so just ask. We also enjoy pix!!! So if you find something that you think is neat share it with us here. Enjoy the site, I know I do! ;D Dr Joe .

Foam or scrap of carpet will deaden the noise of vibe tumblers also.
