I have just been looking over all the really fantastic cabs and wraps that have been posted here over the last few days, and I just want to say thank you to all of you that have posted your pics of your work. They are all just absolutely fantastic! And, a great inspiration to me. I look, read and try to learn. Thank you for helping me along! Now, I have been busy, working hard to emulate the work I have seen here. Boy, do I have a ways to go! I think I am starting to get a bit better on the girdles, and, the wire working. On these following pieces, I hand made all the ear wires, spirals, etc. My hat is off to all the rest of you! But, you know something? Although still clumsy with my wire work, I really enjoy the heck out of it! Frustration and all. Also, thanks again to kap for the fine specimens of rock he provided to me. Hopefully, he will help me id these first two. I think this is some jade perhaps. It is very hard material, so it may be a type of agate. I am pretty sure this next one is a moss agate. The final two pics are of what is my best work yet, and one of my favorite stones. I just have to get more of this!! Labrodorite, and, I think this is the best edge I have gotten so far, a nice straight girdle. And, I do promise to work on my picture taking skills also, very soon!! ;D Thanks to all; Mike

Very nice cabs and wraps - but boy, that labradorite - I'm finding it HARD to get that kind of shine on that stuff! Great job.

Those look super! Love that labradorite you got a great shine on it. I have one very small suggestion/cheat for you. It looks like you are using a blade that is wider than your wire to cut the groove. That leaves a small rough unpolished area next to the wire. Before I got a grooving machine I found you could hide that quite nicely with a little clear nail polish in the groove. Just put it on then wipe off so Its really thin. I know its not a perfect solution and could/will chip out eventually, but until you have something to cut the right width it hides it nicely. I won't tell if you don't.

I have been afraid to even think about going near wire wrapping. But seeing your work makes me think, "maybe I could do it too!" I have a Swap Top and they have a grooving attatchment available, so now I have no excuse. Thanks for posting.

Mike: Holy Crap! Those are awesome, and I am not just making you feel good! LOL I love the way you twisted the earrings, Tony has made me a few sets and I have trouble with them not hanging right, looking at your bail on them, I think you gave me an idea how to solve it! Beautiful work both the cabs and the wraps, and you think you are newbie? I think you are pulling our leg! Keep up the awesome work! One thing I found with Labordorite is to seal it at the beginning with thin super glue and then it takes a nice shine with tin oxide. Make more!!! Make more!!! Amber

That is a beautiful batch! The top ones look like a jasper to me, maybe bloodstone. The moss and lab are fantastic too! Fran

The pendants are beautiful and that Lab has an amazing shine. Those earrings are killers and good for you with making your own wires.

They all look great! Every time I see a groove job, I want to do it, too. Excellent way to show off a stone.
