I have a plywood boxed, home made 24" rocksaw thatpresumably was made out of a kit.Shes not pretty but it gets the job done.
The feedscrew mechanism is a piece of 1/2" all-thread with clamping collars on both ends and treminating in front with the pulley for the feedmotor.
Today I noticed I have between a 16th & 32nd of free play at the lock nut for the carriage and I can also move the feed screw itself about that much at both ends.
Should it have this bit of freeplay or do I need to snug things back up so all is firm and secure?

Your threads on your clamp are starting to wear down due to the muck in the oil acting like sandpaper and sanding them down. It will get sloppier until finally it does not advance anymore, but that could still be along ways off. The dirtier your oil the faster it will wear them out. Just kind of a fact of life with these saws. John had some good advice above!
Just keep an eye out for some spare parts or an easy fix for when it does quit.
Have a great day................Tony

Fosldog:
Even if you do have wear in your feed screw, you really have no problem other that a few dollrs, and some time. A piece of all thread for a feed screw is a very inexpensive replacement. The feed screws on a saw like a Highland Park are machined, and costly to replace. Can you say have one made at a machine shop. Woody
