I cannot ID a thing! The shiny spot on the middle rock is silver, not mica, no clue. All rocks are from Lake Superior shores. Can anyone help with any ID's? A few odd rocks from the shore.... Is anyone thinking unakite? Or am I way dumb on this one too?! Any and all thoughts/ID's are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks much! Nona

I wish I knew more, the person to ask is probably northshorerocks, he lives up there. I live in central Minnesota, and find a LOT of several of these stones in the pit behind my house, so hope he can ID some of these for us both!! I find a lot of the one with the silver stuff on it, but it usually is red with quartz, and the silver flakes off very easily. I find it in very large peices, too. Hope he can help with these, I wouldn't mind knowing what they are as well!! Marie

Many of your rocks are similar to what is found along the Bay of Fundy. Here's a few ID's with no gaurantees...
Looks like they are all igneous rocks.
The fine grained black and white rock is likey gabbro. It's similar to granite, but conatins mainly feldspar (white) and horneblende (black). As the content of lighter material increases (feldspar and quartz) the rock shifts towrds gratnie, granno-diorite, to diorite.
The black, brown and red rock with larger white coloured crystals is likely porphyritic rhyolite. It is similar to granite in composition but forms under different conditions (extrusive verses intrusive).
The bottom ones (pink and green) I am curios about. It is also common here and often takes a nice polish. The pink components are likely feldspar and the green is likely due to some olivine or epidote getting into the mix.
Hope this helps. Chances are someone will be able to add to (or correct) this.
Darryl.
