This material is getting a little harder to come by but it is still available if you venture off the beaten track a little. Thanks for looking! Rodney

Actually, I posted this to let the people who are considering going to the burro creek reunion that this material is still available in the field.
As far as what it sells for, the prices vary greatly as to the quality of the color. There are tons of the lower grade lavender color on the market and it can be found for a dollar or two a lb.

Nice color in those Rodney. Like you've said, quite a bit of the pale purple around but you don't see those darker tones much at all these days......Meol

The funny thing about this stuff is that in the field or in old estates it can be easily mistaken as just another white or grey agate. The outside of the rock, if exposed to the sun for any length of time will fade any trace of purple. I have been pleasantly surprised many times after chipping a corner off a piece that looked like just pale agate.

Yeah, I've noticed purple is usually a fugitive color and especially with long sun exposure, fades away. I've made the mistake of leaving Royal Purple Aztec Lace and that purple Agatized Sponge from Mexico out on a rockpile and it faded bad. Now I keep all purple stuff in the shop where the sun can't get to it....Mel

wow thats interesting, mel and rodney...... I didn't know it would fade that bad. Is that why there is so many different shades of burro creek? I always wondered why some is dark, and some are lighter and then even some have a blue tone, but yet its all burro creek...

I think amethyst is another that fades with too much sun-exposure...

I just finished two small cabs from this and it is so pretty.
It is part of the batch that I finally stopped/finished Sunday night.
Pictures to follow.
As always ...

Amber just finished up polishing a cab I made from the stuff Jamie gave me on our visit. I can't wait to try and collect some of this myself.
