Took the new rig out to north Jersey this week for a short test run. Stayed at a nice campground that had a farm theme and had all kinds of animal habitats scattered around. Angie came too, of course.
View from the campground overlooking NJ's highlands and our campsite
Animal pics
Stopped at a farm stand to pick up some fresh Jersey sweet corn and tomatoes. Sliced up the Maters, drizzled a little EVOO and balsamic, salt & pepper- Mmmmmm.... Then ate and cabbed and did a wrap of our local Peristerite at our campsite.
Visited the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Franklin.
They had some rocks for sale outside.
Picked up some Fluorite at the shop
Then we visited... "The Dump"! (yes, they charged an admission fee, and a buck fifty per pound)
There were two piles, one was stuff from the mines there, this is what we took home and this is what they looked like under UV light...
The other pile, was what they called "The World". Bill kept yelling at me to get out of The World pile, LOL, but I managed to get out with these:
Lastly, we got to meet up with Carnelian Pete from another forum and he took us out to tromp a few of his creeks for... yep, you guessed it, Carnelian! Angie had a blast chasing water spiders.
Escargot anyone? The jumbo kind.
Pete shaking his head at the evidence of a previous visit from irresponsible rockhounds.
Cool spring coming out from under the roots of a tree.
Pete found a sweet piece of Teuschenite.
We found a few nice Carnelians.
And we even came home with a nice little piece of Teuschenite that we found.
That's all folks! Thanks for lookin'! Jo
