Question: I'm polishing my little potpourri of rocks from the initial kit. Some shine nice, some not. I'm using the Alum Oxide that came with the kit. Can I pull out the not so shiney ones and run them in Cerium Oxide or do I have to back them up to the 500 stage and then run them in the Cerium?

i looked back and found a thread on "still not shiney" on page 7 of board. see if that helps. you don't say if you have a separate polish barrel or not so i don't know if contamination could be a problem or not. hope this helps.

Ok, I got all that, but to further clarify my question, How far back do I have to go to repair the stones that I tumbled BEFORE I got a seperate barrel for polish only? Will they be OK to just tumble again? Do I tumble them in Pre-Polish first? Do I just run them longer in the final polish? What ya think? Thanks -Banjo

I had the same problem with a couple of batches, I tried the polish only and the results were marginal. Then I put the rocks back into the 500 grit phase for only 3 days then onto the final polish they looked great.
I hope this helps Dwight P
